Our 2020 Family Vacation

June 20, 2020

After being quarantined in our house for the better part of spring, we escaped to a peaceful farmstead vacation near the coast of Alabama. I won’t lie, this has been a tough year… which probably goes without saying at this point. A getaway was absolutely necessary!

The week before we left, Drew got laid off from his job. Losing our income on a whim, we were kind of torn on whether or not to go. End result, we extended our stay to a full week instead of just a long weekend! Honestly, not the best financial decision ever, but we truly believe this is what we needed to reset since so much of our 2020 has been canceled. He also hasn’t had enough vacation days in the last few years for us to go on more than quick trip. We’ll take the sweet memories and make the rest up later.

Situated on 20 acres and surrounded by a blueberry plantation, we knew this place would be a breath of fresh air. It exceeded our expectations and then some and was the perfect fit for our family of four. Check out Silver Sail here!

Our kids were in blueberry heaven… especially Jairus! He was in his element and every time we’d set him on the ground, he’d disappear to the bushes where we’d find him munching away.

Evenings of grilling out, snacking on fresh cut fruit, making salads and smoothies with the produce from the garden… pure bliss!

We spent hours on end at the beach! We barely missed a tropical storm but the forecast gave rain every day, to which we never received and got to soak up the sweet sunshine day-in and day-out.

We frequented the public beaches in Gulf Shores, Alabama and the Perdido Key state park in Pensacola, Florida.

And soaked up some beautiful southern skies!

We also got family photos taken while we were there! Even though our boys were beyond wiped out and uncooperative after a long week of vacation, we adore these images and it was so great to not have to mess with the tripod. Thank you Heather Alexandra for being so accommodating. We loved our time with you!
